Forest d'Eawy, one of the largest sustainable forests in Europe, has numbers
of wild boar, deer, badgers, red squirrel, buzzards and flora to interest.
These are unlikely to be spotted in full daylight (try dawn or dusk, in silence,
with plenty of patience), visit Cleres Zoological Park for guaranteed sightings.
Riding and pony trekking can be arranged at the excellent stables in St. Saens.
The area was home to the V1 rocket project during World War II, close by is
a fully uncovered site with rocket and ramp, the headquarters were at the
nearby Chateau de Bosmelet with its award winning garden. It's just one of
many gardens, historical sites and Chateaux to visit in the area.
The 18 hole St Saens golf course is five minutes away by car, it rambles over
a river valley and forested hillside surrounding the chateau clubhouse, membership

Normandy is rated among the top ten most desirable golfing locations in the
world, there are 37 courses to choose from.
40 minutes away is the glorious Normandy coast, uncrowded, rugged and full
of French charm with beautifully clean sand and pebble beaches. Set amongst
the white chalk cliffs are many small villages with restaurants and sea views
serving freshly caught fish and seafood.
Rouen with its impressive Cathedral and medieval old quarter is a 20 minute
drive. Independantly owned shops and boutiques specialise in hand made chocolates,
designer clothes, perfume, antiques, jewelry and it hosts numerous excellent
restaurants. A comprehensive culture program covers film, music, opera and
dance throughout the year.

In September the ever growing Deauville American film festival is a chance
to see a host of big stars who are attracted by the event's relaxed and low
key atmosphere.
Guy de Maupassant, Flaubert, Marcel Proust and Oscar Wilde were all in Normandy
at some time during their lives, their residences are dotted around the region.
Normandy is home to the Impressionist movement, whose artists were inspired
by the cliffs at Etretat, Rouen Cathedral and the Normandy countryside. Monet's
house and garden at Giverny is one and a half hours away, there are many other
places to visit connected to the art movement. We can arrange an introductory
tour.
Nearby Bocasse is an open air fun fair for smaller children, further afield
is the larger Parc St Paul nearer Paris. There are numerous outdoor adventure
parks all featuring different attractions and activities.
Paris, Eurodisney and the World War II Normandy landing beaches are within
a couple of hours drive.
There are several excellent restaurants in the vicinity and an exceptional
choice further afield in Rouen and around the large marina in Dieppe.
Both Rouen and Dieppe have large commercial centres where there are large
savings to be made on sporting and other goods.
There are two large supermarkets and many smaller shops at St Saens, 3kms
away, with a market on Thursday mornings at nearby Buchy on Monday mornings
and Neufchatel on Saturday mornings.
